The Good Samaritan

Reading bible stories is indeed fascinating from the Old testament where God made great wonders including people till the New testament where Jesus was born to save mankind but suffered and died on the cross to save humanity. On of my favorite Bible stories is the Parable of the Good Samaritan.

Here's a brief summary of the parable. There was once a man who was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when robbers attacked him, stripped him, and beat him up, leaving him half dead. It so happened that a priest was going down that road; but when he saw the man, he walked on by, on the other side.

In the same way a Levite also came along, went over and looked at the man, and then walked on by, on the other side.

But a Samaritan who was traveling that way came upon the man, and when he saw him, his heart was filled with pity. He went over to him, poured oil and wine on his wounds and bandaged them; then he put the man on his own animal and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.

The next day he took two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. And told the innkeeper to take care of the man and when he comes back he will pay whatever was spent on the poor man.

While reading this parable makes me remember of one great quote "never judge a book by it's cover". Yes indeed this is true. Because we really don't know who we are dealing with. People may look nice at us at first instance but later on we discovered the goodness or badness of that person. Just like in my case, as a nurse I thought all doctors are so good, patient and very accommodating to patients as well as their loved ones but when times goes by especially when they are discharged and are asking for a little bit consideration with their payable some doctors are not that considerate anymore and sometimes becomes harsh to relatives as well.

I just wonder where in the world did they place their good values and loved for their patients. So this story reminded me to be like the Good Samaritan and never ask something in return.
